 GEORGES RIVER LUNCH CRUISE –
The cruise on 1st April didn’t look all that promising to start with, when we all arrived at the
wharf, it was pouring rain and the water was very choppy, but thankfully when we got going it
cleared up and the sun came out. And it turned out to be a very enjoyable day.
The food was lovely and the staff were all very helpful and friendly, although the young man
serving tea needs to learn that you put hot water in the teapot to make tea. But he did get it right
in the end.
And I am very sorry I told you all to get there at 10.30am instead of 11am, as that was the time
the boat was going, I just didn’t want anyone to be late, now I know in the future to give you the
time it is leaving, because you all got there by 10am, and had 1 hour to wait before we got on
board.

September The Annual Holiday to Lightning Ridge was very enjoyable and interesting, what a way of life those opal miners have. We were very lucky with the weather and a few of us braved the Artesian baths, thoroughly enjoyed it.We were extremely lucky in Moree. We arrived there on Thursday afternoon where some of us had a dip in their Thermal pools. We had our Fancy dress night there in the dining room and I want to thank all the people who went to the trouble of dressing up. IT WAS GREAT.Unfortunately for the Motel in Moree, the following night they had a fire in the kitchen and the dining room was completely destroyed. Luckily no one was hurt.

December TOUR SOUTHERN HIGHLANDSOn Friday 25 November 44 of us went on the Southern Highlands tour to Retford Park, former residence of James Fairfax. What a spectacular place, the home furniture and artwork was so grand, as was the 10 acres of garden, and it was only his weekender. And then on to the Centennial Vineyards, where some of us took advantage of the Black Friday sale they had on offer. All in All a good day was had by all.

Some of the Highlights include a trip on the Puffing Billy Steam Train, a cruise down the Yarra River, Dinner in an Italian Restaurant in Lygon Street, which is a block away from where we are staying in Carlton. On behalf of myself & Pam I would like to wish you all a Very Happy Christmas, and May the New Year be a good one for us all.We need at least 30 members on this trip, and if we don’t get anymore names on the sheet or some members cancel, we have to put it out there for other clubs in the cluster groups to get the numbers, or the Coach Company to advertise to help fill the bus. So please think about it, I know we have a number of members who would have liked to go but had already booked holidays for that time. But if you have not got any commitments for that time please think about it, we have a great time on these holidays.
