2012 Bowls
March |
Engadine Probus will host an event at Engadine Bowling & Recreation Club when our club will host our fellow Probus Clubs. Registration is at 12.00 noon for a 12.30pm start. Cost is $12 per player. The dress is bowls creams or Club colours. (a list of participating members who have registered their intention to play was read to the meeting). Those members who have not yet registered, should do so immediately. A pleasing response has been received in respect to invitations forwarded to fellow Probus Clubs within the Shire and immediate adjoining areas. |
May | Another more than enjoyable social afternoon was had by our bowling members at the “Bowls Day” hosted by Kurranulla Probus Club at Sylvania Bowling Club on Monday 28th May. Our team of 24, led enthusiastically by Madam President, enjoyed success in a number of the games, however social companionship was the clear winner on the day. |
June | On 25th June, our bowling members enjoyed a very pleasant sunny afternoon of bowls at Taren Point Bowling Club thanks to our hosts, Probus Club of Sylvania Waters. The format was triples and our four teams enjoyed winning success. To top-off the afternoon, a couple of members went home with raffle prizes |
August | The next Bowls Day is Monday 27th August, 2012 at Gymea Bowling Club - . Registration at 12noon for a 12.30pm start. The Bowls co-ordinators will be away on this day but Peter Paterson has volunteered to handle any problems or queries. He can be contacted on phone 8539 7854 |
September | Thank you to Peter Paterson for filling in as Bowls Co-ordinator at the Miranda Probus Bowls Day. By all reports it was an enjoyable and successful day.
We have booked the greens for a mufti fun bowls day on Monday 12 November, targeting non-bowlers. Plenty of regular bowlers will be playing and looking after you. Morning tea 9.30am and start about 10.00am. We will finish around midday or shortly after. Bowls supplied, barefeet or flat soled shoes. Green fees subsidised. A list will be out next month so be early. |

November | The feedback from the Introduction to Bowls Day held on the 12 November, indicated that all attendees, novices and mentors alike, enjoyed a very pleasant social get-together with heaps of laughs on the green. A special thanks to Judy and Harry Membrey for their number of assists on the day.
We thank all our bowlers for their support and social interaction during 2012 and look forward to further enjoyable times throughout 2013. The first event for 2013 will be the annual “Invitation Bowls Day” in March, hosted by our club at Engadine Bowling & Recreation Club (home). Further detail will be provided in the New Year.
