Again, we had a strong participation from Kareela Probus, Bede and myself from our Club.  Our group met at 10am at the Loftus Tram Museum. Some amazing stuff there, the theme was Black and White in camera.  Everyone enjoyed the lovely weather and interesting pieces from the past.                                                                Due to my absence our next meeting will be Thursday 5th April                                                                                                                                                            Engadine Bowlo @ 10am, Caitlin from Kareela Club will be running the meeting

April  Our April meeting was cancelled as I was away and Caitlyn from Kareela Club who was going to run the meeting had a nasty fall. Some weeks ago, I had the pleasure of photographing a 97year old lady who is the mum of one of our members. The lady now lives in a nursing home and her daughter wanted some pictures of her and her mum together.      This prompted a thought, I would like to offer Free photography sessions for anyone who also would like to have photos taken of their elderly parents and or relatives.
May  Four of us ventured out to the Japanese/Botanic Gardens at Auburn. We had a lovely time wandering around taking photos and watching some of the staff feed the ducks and geese.

Other staff were tending to the gardens and major sprinklers were going which caused a bit of a challenge for us.

Unfortunately, the autumn colours were missing, it had been too hot and dry for too long.

Our next meeting is Wednesday 6th June. @ Engadine Bowlo at 10am

June

Photography Group

Very little to report for the month of June, a few of us got together here at the Club to review our Japanese Garden photos and our assignment photos which was animals.  I will be away for the early part of July, so we decided to cancel July’s meeting.

Assignment photos, animals.          Our next meeting is Wednesday 1st August .           Sir Joseph Banks Reserve, Kareela @ 10am.

Did you Know and How to . . . ???              Computers-Ipads . . .

I am currently researching some programs/apps which will allow you to digitize printed photos.

If you have slides and/or negatives, there are scanning devices on the market costing less than $100. These devices are easy to use and produce very good quality.

What Is a Wi-Fi Hotspot (and Are They Safe to Use)?

A Wi-Fi hotspot is really just a wireless access point. Typically, they are public locations where you can access the internet through Wi-Fi on your mobile devices. They are convenient, but there are also some security issues to be aware of when using them. To connect to a hotspot, the only thing you need is a device with wireless connectivity, whether that’s a smartphone, laptop, or tablet.

Security is a major concern, so when using a hotspot, it may be best not to log in to your bank account for example.

Hotspots can be found everywhere, major retailers, shopping centres, caravan parks etc.

July  Our July meeting was cancelled.

Things you can do:

This is a photo taken by Agnes Mullard on an iphone (top)

Agnes showed me the photo which is rather amazing, so I said email it to me and I will enhance it a bit. Here is the before and after

Our next meeting is Wednesday 1st August

Sir Joseph Banks Reserve, Kareela @ 10am

August  I have decided to put the Photography Group on hold for some time. I have signed up as a volunteer to go out and help on farms in NSW a few days at a time. As I will be travelling a bit around the central west areas I feel that I simply will not have the time to keep up the group. Having said that, I am sure I will be picking up the threads in the future.                                                               Please remember:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            My offer of FREE pet- and family photo sessions stands and is open to every club member.
