Acceptances have been received from 15 fellow clubs, so the day is shaping up to be another good one. |
| April 2016 | The Club’s Annual Lawn Bowls Day held on 21st March at Engadine Bowling and Recreational Club was a huge success in anyone’s language as 25+ teams from fellow Probus clubs together with 8 teams from our club, over 120 players in all, participated in a very enjoyable social day “on the Green” - yes the weather gods smiled upon us once again. The positive and rewarding after game feedback indicated that all enjoyed the hospitality afforded by our Club. However, the success of the day could not have been achieved without our dedicated team of helpers: Judy and Harry Membrey, Denise and Alan Becker, Lorraine and John Martin, Elaine Burt and Kris Edwards. Thanks all and well done. Once again Judy Membrey and her band of merry helpers on behalf of the Sutherland Hospital Garden Kiosk Committee surpassed themselves in the provision of a variety of more than tasteful wraps for the afternoon snack. Monday 30th May - An invitation has been received from the Probus Club of Kurranulla for their lawn bowls day to be held at Caringbah Bowling Club. Registration: Noon, Cards called 12:30pm Dress: “Creams” or Club colours Teams: Men’s, Ladies or mixed triples Cost: $12 per player Nomination Sheet will be available at both the April and May meetings as nomination close on 23rd May. |
| May 2016 | Monday 30th May - An invitation has been received from the Probus Club of Kurranulla for their lawn bowls day to be held at Caringbah Bowling Club. Nominations have closed due to the popularity of the day Registration: Noon, Cards called 12:30pm Dress: “Creams” or Club colours Teams: Men’s, Ladies or mixed triples Cost: $12 per player MAY UPDATE: Monday 27th June - A further invitation has been received from the Probus Club of Sylvania Waters for a Bowls Day to be held at Taren Point Bowling Club with the same format as listed above except that the Cost per player is $15. Members intending to nominate must do so at the May meeting or alternatively phone Ron (9548 1720) or Grahame Edwards (9520 5681) prior to 30th May, as nominations close before to the Club’s next scheduled meeting on 21st June. |
| June 2016 | (Read by Ron Broadhead) Another more than enjoyable social afternoon was had by our bowling members at the “bowls day” hosted by Kurranulla Probus Club at Caringbah Bowling Club on Monday 30th May. Our six teams of triples enjoyed success in a number of the games; however social companionship was a clear winner on a very pleasant day weather-wise. The next bowls day is being hosted by the Probus Club of Sylvania Waters at Taren Point Bowling Club on Monday 27th June and the Club is being represented by two teams of triples. Nominations for the day have now closed. |
| July 2016 | Another enjoyable day of bowls hosted by the Probus Club of Sylvania Waters at Taren Point Bowling Club on a very inclement Monday 27th June was had by a dedicated group of club members. Monday 22nd August - An invitation has been received by the Probus Club of Miranda at Gymea Bowling Club Registration Noon Cards called 12.30pm Cost $15 per player Dress Creams or Club colours Games Men’s and Mixed Triples Afternoon snack/tea will be served. Those members intending to play must nominate at the July meeting or alternatively phone Ron 9548 1720 or Grahame 9520 5681, as nominations close prior to the August meeting. |

| September 2016 | The final bowls event for 2016 was held at Gymea Bowling Club on 29th August hosted by the Probus Club of Miranda. Unfortunately the day was overcast and after about 8 ends play, the weather gods decided to vent their anger by raining-out play for the day. A very disappointing day for our hosts. 2016 was another successful year primarily due to the participatory support of our bowling members to whom we express our appreciation and look forward to another social year on the Green in 2017. A special thank-you to all our unsung helpers for their efforts throughout the year and also the Club and green staff at Engadine. The initial event for 2017 shall once again be scheduled for March to be hosted by our club at Engadine Bowling and Recreational Club. Details will be available in the New Year. |

The Bowling Club is running the Annual Charity Bowls Challenge on Friday evening the 18th November, at 5.30pm with the beneficiary this year being “Beyond Blue”. The Event is only open to non-registered bowlers and is always a great night. No experience is necessary. $25 per head includes bowling, meal and a drink and entertainment. Our receptionist, Mel at the front desk can give you the relative information and Entry Forms. |
